Meet The People Behind Vasse Virgin

Edwina Scherini, Managing Director

Edwina is the driving force behind the direction of our Vasse Virgin brand. For many years, she has also been a dynamic member of the local tourism industry, centrally involved in a number of projects. She held the coveted position of Vice Chairperson in the Augusta-Margaret River Tourism Association (now MRBTA) for three consecutive years.

Edwina is highly trained in the art of Natural Perfumery, having undertaken training in France, Thailand, Melbourne and New Zealand. Together with her son Rowan, they have developed two perfumery workshops for visitors to the Vasse Virgin Factories in Margaret River and the Barossa. Edwina's other key focus these days is product development, and you can often find her experimenting and testing out new skincare products.

Outside of the office, Edwina enjoys keeping fit, body boarding at Redgate beach, bush walking with her dog, snowboarding and occasionally indulging in a sneaky glass of Margaret River Chardonnay!

Louis Scherini, Managing Director

Louis first stumbled upon the success of our olive oil soaps when looking for a way to soothe the dry and irritated skin of his three children, all of whom suffered from eczema. Drawing on his Italian heritage, Louis researched the benefits of using olive oil and mixed his very first batch of soap in the family's kitchen, using a bucket and a wooden spoon.

Following the success of the business, Louis has also been heavily involved in the Australian olive oil industry, primarily working as a judge for the Perth Royal Show. In 2015, he joined Edwina and Mark in Italy as they embarked on a course to become Australia's first Olive Oil Sommeliers. These days, you can often find Louis down in our Wilyabrup Soap Factory where you'll see him mixing up various concoctions and always experimenting with new ideas.
